Lecturer in Sustainability
About ARU:
ARU is a vibrant workplace and our University is gaining prominence both nationally and internationally. We have ambitious plans for the future and we are determined that our students and staff will realise their full potential. Our main campuses in the cities of Cambridge, Chelmsford and Peterborough have been transformed with major capital investment. With an annual turnover of over £200m, we are a major force for higher education and one of the largest universities in the East of England.
About the role:
The Global Sustainability Institute (GSI) was established by Anglia Ruskin University in 2011 as part of our University commitment to sustainability in research, teaching and operations. We now have a core group of over 40 individuals including researchers, visiting and honorary fellows, project management staff and doctoral students.
We’re looking to recruit an exceptional lecturer to join our active and collaborative team. Since 2013, in partnership with the Eden Project, we have been running the interdisciplinary MSc Sustainability. In 2021 we are launching a distance version of the course that will be run alongside the current blended learning option. This post will include teaching on the MSc Sustainability as well as supporting the delivery of the course across all modules as part of the course team. Experience of online courses would be an advantage. You will also act as a personal tutor to the students and provide specialist guidance, for example, as a dissertation supervisor.
With a PhD or nearing completion in a sustainability related discipline, you will have demonstrable teaching and research contribution. You will also be research active in any area of social sciences linked to the current research activity in the Global Sustainability Institute (see our website for details) including energy transitions, biodiversity and social impact, societal and environmental resilience, and socio-technical and socio-environmental systems. You’ll have excellent advocacy and interpersonal skills, as well as a track record initiating or contributing to collaborative projects.
Informal enquiries can be made to Alison Greig, Course Leader (alison.greig@aru.ac.uk) or Professor Aled Jones, Director, Global Sustainability Institute (aled.jones@aru.ac.uk).
