ARU

About ARU:

ARU is a global university transforming lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial education and research. ARU holds a Gold award for the quality of its education, awarded through the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).
ARU’s research institutes and four faculties bridge scientific, technical and creative fields.  We deliver impactful research which tackles pressing issues and makes a real difference to our communities.  Our academic excellence has been recognised by the UK’s Higher Education funding bodies, with 16 of our research areas assessed as world leading. We are the largest provider of Nursing, Midwifery, Health and Social Care students in the East of England, and we are also among the UK’s leading universities for degree apprenticeship provision, working with hundreds of employers across the UK.

About the Role:

Based across Cambridge and Chelmsford, you will provide strategic and academic leadership for the Experiential Legal Hub, shaping an impactful and inclusive experiential learning environment at the heart of the Law School. You will lead the development of clinical and practice-based legal education, working closely with academic colleagues and external partners to embed real-world learning across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. During an exciting period of portfolio growth, you will play a key role in strengthening student employability, civic engagement, and the Law School’s external profile, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, sustainable experiential learning opportunities.

About you

You will be an experienced legal academic or practitioner with significant expertise in clinical or experiential legal education and a strong record of leadership in higher education or professional practice. With a degree plus PhD or Professional Doctorate, you will bring strategic vision, credibility with partners, and the ability to lead complex initiatives in a collaborative environment. Adaptable and values-driven, you will be motivated by widening participation, access to justice, and creating meaningful impact for students, partners, and the wider community.
