Post Doctoral Research Fellow
About ARU:
ARU is a global university transforming lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial education and research. ARU holds a Gold award for the quality of its education, awarded through the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).
ARU’s research institutes and four faculties bridge scientific, technical and creative fields. We deliver impactful research which tackles pressing issues and makes a real difference to our communities. Our academic excellence has been recognised by the UK’s Higher Education funding bodies, with 16 of our research areas assessed as world leading. We are the largest provider of Nursing, Midwifery, Health and Social Care students in the East of England, and we are also among the UK’s leading universities for degree apprenticeship provision, working with hundreds of employers across the UK.
About the Role:
We are offering a 2-year fixed-term postdoctoral research fellowship to support our ongoing research focused on developing nano-enabled drug carriers aimed at overcoming pan-chemoresistance in cancer stem(-like) cells. Our research team has an established track record in formulating nano-based drug delivery systems to address critical drug delivery challenges. Additionally, we have extensive experience in collaborating with industry to scale up nanomedicine projects, bridging the gap between lab-based research and commercial application. Our work also includes pioneering anticancer drug discovery and repurposing, specifically using safe, non-toxic natural compounds. A patent has been filed on novel compounds synthesized in our lab that demonstrate anticancer activity.
Candidates should hold a degree and PhD (completed or nearing completion within 3 months) in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Science, Physical Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a related discipline. The successful candidate will play a key role in researching and developing advanced drug delivery systems to overcome solubility and stability challenges. Additionally, they will employ formulation science expertise to develop final product solutions that are suitable for in vivo studies and future clinical trials.
This fellowship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to translational research within a multidisciplinary team, working towards innovations in nanomedicine and cancer therapeutics.
