About the role
At ARU we have committed to bring about ‘a step change in our research capacity to maximise its impact for the communities we serve’ and position us to become a distinctive University that is entrepreneurial in nature. We are actively investing in three major ARU wide Research, Innovation and Impact themes including, Health, Performance and Wellbeing, aligning with ARU’s expertise within the Medical Technology Research Institute, the School of Medicine and extensive capabilities in Health, Performance and Wellbeing. We are also one of the biggest health workforce providers in England.
Anglia Ruskin’s Faculty of Health Education Medicine and Social Care are working together with NHS England to deliver the Clinical Entrepreneur Programme which is the world’s first (and largest) national-level workforce development programme for healthcare professionals. The aim of the Programme is to support the NHS workforce to develop and scale their most innovative ideas for the benefit of patients. The programme does this by providing the commercial knowledge, expertise, a supportive and safe network, and permission to innovate.
The programme started in 2016 with 103 junior doctors and expanded in 2017 to include all doctors, dentists and clinical scientists and now includes all NHS staff. The Programme currently has over 900 Clinical Entrepreneurs. The programme currently delivers monthly educational Pit Stops, mentoring, webinars, workshops, one-to-one expert clinic sessions, business planning and a number of other learning and development opportunities.
