At our ARU Writtle campus, we specialise in animal, environmental, agricultural and horticultural courses, for learners aged 16 to 18, adult learners, undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
About the Role:
Based in our new Student and Library Services help desk at ARU Writtle, which launched in September 2024, your priority will be providing help, advice, and guidance to students across a broad range of library and student support topics via multiple channels.
We are looking to recruit a part-time Student and Library Services Adviser to a permanent position working 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday 1-5pm. The ability to put people at ease who may be in distress is a must, as is the ability to explain complex regulations and procedures in an accessible manner.
You’ll play an important role in supporting students with their pastoral needs and signposting and triaging queries to Student Services teams, including money advice, counselling and wellbeing, disability and dyslexia support, study skills, academic advice, employability, and ARU Temps. Other duties include advising students on the use of library resources, study spaces, IT support, as well as contributing to a range of administrative tasks which are key to library and student support services.
With two A Levels or a vocational qualification at NVQ level 3 or equivalent, you will have experience of working in a customer service environment, successfully collaborating as part of a team, and handling administrative tasks using complex information systems. Your excellent customer service skills, including the ability to remain calm under pressure, will be essential. You should be IT literate, with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office, and demonstrate strong attention to detail.
Experience of working in an office or library environment within higher or further education is desirable.
